Working with Martock Primary School in Somerset to improve their phone system
Their old system and providing a better way of working
The old system had been working well since we installed it in 2005 but the new system allows for a hybrid approach with both digital and VOIP phones making the perfect solution to the school’s needs. We always make sure that we recommend the telephone system that works best for the school – considering the requirements and site infrastructure of each. As standard, we always look at the most appropriate and best value exchange lines and telephone calls for the site as well. At Equations, we never use a one size fits all approach because we know that every school is different.
At Martock, instead of every call being routed through reception, calls are now going through to the relevant member of staff – a more streamlined approach that leaves callers happy to reach the right person straightaway and office staff free to focus on other tasks. The system has also seen phones installed in every classroom so office staff and teachers can communicate instantly without having to physically travel to and from the office. This is helping to save time and improving communication and security as both teaching and office staff can respond quickly to any issues that may arise.
When it came to installing the new system at Martock our priority was to make sure that we didn’t cause any disruption to the school’s normal working day.
As an educational specialist, we know how important it is for schools to get the right system at the right price. As a result, our school clients know that they are getting both value for money and great service from us.
“When we were thinking about getting a new system we asked for quotes from three companies. Two of those providers, including Equations, had worked extensively with schools and one hadn’t. That one didn’t understand what we wanted so was soon ruled out. Between Equations and the other provider, it came down to price and Equations was much more competitive so it was a winner on price and on service,” said Mr Wilson-Chalon.
When we fit a system, we make sure that it is working perfectly before we leave but minor issues can occasionally arise over time or our clients may have queries about their phones so we make sure that we are always available by phone or email to help. Because we’re a South West business we have engineers based across the region who can come out to resolve problems quickly and without impacting on school operations.
“If I phone up with any question, Tom, or one of the team, gets back to me very quickly. Tom is very personable and has given me his mobile number so I have both him and the local office as points of contact. Whenever I have called him direct over several years now, I have found I can always speak to Tom or get a call back within a very brief time. I have always found Tom, the Equations office staff and the team of Equations engineers very professional and very approachable. Nothing is too much trouble and any question we have asked has been responded to quickly and thoroughly. I couldn’t fault Equations in any way,” added Mr Wilson-Chalon.
“Working with Equations has been very easy. At first, engineers came out in normal school hours and worked in a room with our server. It all went very smoothly and they didn’t cause any problems to the school day. Then, over Easter, they worked in the classrooms so the system was up-and-running by the time school started again.”
