How to use your phone system to crack local markets

The issue
Whether you’re old or new, the lifeblood of any organisation is its customers and your success or failure will often be due in large part to the way you interact with them and the way you’re able to communicate with them. People buy from, and deal with people.

In a competitive environment it’s also how you stand out from the crowd and ensure that people are kept happy, even if they’re contacting you to raise an issue. We’ve been based in the Southwest for more than 20 years, helping local and national organisations and businesses gain more from their phone systems. We understand that people buy from people, and they also often prefer to buy from local people.

So, if you want to cover a local geographical area, for example with a sales person, and they don’t have a physical office in the area, how do you let people know that you are indeed local and can cover there needs?

The answer – geographical phone numbers
The answer of course lies in the phone number they’re dialling. By using a geographical phone number (which would be the local area code of the person ringing you), you’re positioning yourself as a local business; people will of course be familiar with their local area code and as well as being more inclined to ring it, they’ll also be more likely to answer calls from it because of the familiarity.

When it comes to geographical telephone numbers, many organsiations might not be au fait with the options available to them; if you’d like to find out more about how they could help you or how to set them up then please do give our team a call.

Non-geographical numbers can be benefit your organisation too.
Different organisations will obviously have different needs and target markets. Having a freephone number, such as 0800 or 0808, can have just as much of an impact as a geographical number if used in the right circumstances.

In terms of their benefits, they’re completely free for the caller, which is a great way to increase customer rapport and potentially enlarge your customer base if you take a lot of calls.

Freephone numbers also give the impression that your organisation is bigger, which gives it a more trustworthy and professional appearance. If you relocate, you can also take your 0800 number with you anywhere you want to go.

For more information on the geographical or non-geographical numbers, or how we can add value to your phone system please give our experienced team a call on 01237 420010.
